New England Operations
The Fund first entered the New England region in January 2002 and since has grown its initial investment of six facilities to 15 within two power systems in Maine and New Hampshire, our Northern and Southern regions.
The Northern Region, located on the Penobscot and Moose rivers, includes seven hydroelectric facilities with total installed capacity of 131 megawatts. The Southern Region includes eight hydroelectric plants, located on the Androscoggin River in New Hampshire, with a total installed capacity of 45 megawatts. Together, these facilities produce 1,043 gigawatt hours of electricity annually.
Most of the power produced in New England is sold to Brookfield Power under long-term contracts. Power produced by the Brassua and Errol facilities, which have a total installed capacity of 6 megawatts, is sold to public utilities.
