Community Relations
Community support initiatives are ongoing across all the river systems where we have operations. Through each and every one of our facilities, we are building trust and credibility with local stakeholders. We recognize that our performance has to be demonstrable. In an effort to ensure common interpretation and implementation of our Environmental Policy, we have committed to jointly fund community initiatives that focus on five priority areas:
- the mitigation and restoration of any impact from our operations;
- conservation and preservation;
- the support of river and watershed committees;
- the support of the economic development of communities; and
- education and research.
This commitment by the Fund has already spawned two major projects: the West Branch Project in Maine and a fish habitat conservation initiative in Ontario, two very tangible translations of our Environmental Policy into action and results.
We are building strong relationships with all stakeholders in the communities in which we operate - these relationships are the foundation for our long-term success.
